Membership

The Security Fund’s membership is extremely diverse, made up of businesses in all sectors of the economy including technology, utilities, healthcare, retail, industries, agriculture, business services, and construction. The Security Fund also provides protection for the employees of self-insured non-profit organizations such as charities, churches and community health organizations.

All members are licensed by the State of California to self-insure their workers’ compensation programs.  Some members are actively self-insured, meaning that they hold current self-insurance certificates.  Others hold certificates that were previously revoked and are running off self-insured past liabilities.  Some members also obtain a license to self-administer their workers’ compensation claims, while others use third-party claims administrators. California law mandates that all private self-insured employers are members of SISF, except those who have defaulted on their self-insurance obligations.
